This Blogging Community

I have spent the past week
as a patient at Stanford University Hospital.

I was there in order to receive treatment
for a severe, chronic headache which I've had
for the past 6 years.
Yes.
Six years.
It is a headache that I've had 24/7.
The headache is NOT a migraine.
In fact, the doctors don't know exactly what it is.

To be quite honest,
this terrible headache has been a blessing and a curse.
Mostly a curse - because it has given me terrible pain.
However, it has also shown me the true character
of people around me.
AND, it is the reason I began this blog.
(The doctors recommended I do something creative while I've been somewhat sedentary.)
I enjoy this blog.
I especially enjoy the blogging community
I've become a part of.
I've noticed that the "home decor" bloggers
are almost exclusively supportive & positive.
I love it!

The people at Stanford University Hospital
were also so positive & supportive.
I really appreciate it.

Stanford has beautiful facilities
and the hospital places a great focus on the Arts.
Paintings and sculptures grace the halls.
Poetry is hung up and distributed.
They even have music concerts in the atrium.

While I was there, Stanford invited a jazz trio
to give a live concert of "eclectic jazz".

I attended the concert and it made my stay
all that much more enjoyable (as enjoyable as a being in the hospital can be...).

Fortunately, I had my computer with me.
Reading other blogs and writing a few posts
really got me through the week.

Now, I have a TON of ideas for projects I want
to complete in the upcoming weeks and months.
I truly appreciate the inspiration I have
gained from fellow bloggers.

  1. I am so sorry for what you are going through and pray you get some answers. I know having MS going through the process of finding out what is wrong can be tiring. Hang in there.

  3. Michelle, I do hope you get to the root of your headache situation. I would like to make a simple suggestion. Years and years ago I could not understand my sudden shifts in behavior and the headaches. My doctor advised eating protein every four hours to maintain my sugar level...whether it be a slice of cheese, a hard-boiled egg, a handful of nuts. I have done it faithfully ever since. And it works! I truly think it would be worth your while to give it a try. Good luck.

  4. Hi Michelle. I am sorry you are experiencing these headaches. My husband was suffering from them as well. It turned out that he needed neck surgery and that was what was causing the headaches. He did the surgery and after some healing he has done very well. No more headaches! ( I am a blogger too, you can find me at justjanblog.com)
