Halloween Tablescape

Happy Halloween!

I am an elementary school teacher.
Personally, I love how excited the kids are on Halloween.
This year, I am on a medical leave of absence.
I miss decorating my classroom
and having a party with the students.

Fortunately, I have kids of my own.
So, I had a little shindig of my own
with my neighbors, my kids, and my kids' friends.

As Tiffany & Co. has taught us
(with their iconic blue box),
presentation matters.

The same concept is true when it comes to planning a party.
I like to make the decor fun and festive.
This year, I started with the tablescape.

I began with my inspiration piece,
which was this candelabra.

I received this beauty from my dad & stepmother.
Earlier, I had used it as a centerpiece
on the table on my backyard deck.

Unfortunately, the sea air in Santa Barbara
did not agree with it.

It still had beautiful curves and detail.

Unfortunately, the salt air and morning mist
had turned it into a rusty, dusty beauty.

With some TLC from a microfiber cloth
and a can of Rust-Oleum,
(not a sponsored post)
it regained its former beauty and
earned its place as the centerpiece of
my Halloween tablescape.

I began by setting the table with a burlap tablecloth
topped with a black lace spiderweb tablecloth.
Then, I placed the candelabra in the center.
I added this skeleton guy and five black, glitter candles.

For a PUNCH of color,
I used my mini le creuset pots for each spot.
These pumpkin-colored beauties were
purchased at Costco last fall.
For Halloween, they would hold the chili I made.

 Each place setting
had a black charger (from Michael's),
a clear plate for food,
and a white bowl (from William's Sonoma) for other yummies.

Yes, I used my wedding sterling silver flatware for the party.
My pattern is Royal Danish and I love it.
It adds a special touch to the place settings.

In addition to the candles in the candelabra,
I used my silver candlesticks from my wedding
for added mood lighting.

For a bit of whimsy, each glass had
a black & white striped straw
and an orange & white striped straw.
And for more fun,
plastic spider rings were sprinkled down
the middle of the table.

When it was dark and my guests began arriving,
I turned off the lights and lit all the candles.
In the candlelight, the mix of fancy and whimsical
items on the table created a great
atmosphere for a fun-filled Halloween dinner.

  2. Your candelabra is perfect for a Halloween tablescape. Don't you just love Rust-oleum's Ultra Cover 2x paint for restoring the finish on metal? . The black lace spiderweb tablecloth looks great, it makes a perfect backdrop for the orange mini-pots and the stack of plates. Very nice!
