Early St. Patty's Day Dinner

My hubby won't be able to join
the family for dinner on St. Patrick's Day.
However, I still wanted him to join in the festivities.
So, I set-up and cooked a little St. Patty's dinner
a few days early.

For my tablescape, I decided to include many contrasts:
High - Low
Elegant - Whimsical
Shiny - Matte
Smooth - Rough

I began by laying the table with a green sheet.
My table is so large, that sheets tend to
fit better than most tablecloths.
On top, I layered a rough, burlap tablerunner.

In the center of the table,
I set my Waterford crystal vase (Irish crystal, of course!)
and filled it with a bouquet of Bells of Ireland.
Then, I added some gold candles
which I had picked up from World Market after Christmas.
I also sprinkled mini gold balls (from Michael's after Christmas)
and green glass shamrocks (from Lillian Vernon years ago).

Each table setting had a black charger & green plate.
Since our dinner was just for the family,
I decided to use paper napkins.
Each setting also had a whimsical little "pot o' gold".

The meal began with a little appetizer of Irish cheese
and crackers served in scalloped paper cups.

Dinner consisted of BBQ'd Irish bangers,
sauteed french green beans with onion & sweet peppers,
and shamrock pesto pasta salad with tomatoes & feta.
I bought the shamrock pasta at World Market.
The "Lucky Pasta" made a delicious, and cute, dish.

Candles (in Irish crystal holders) and other small
touches of St. Patrick's Day decor were spread
around the room.
A few days ago, I received this postcard
with my new Kate Spade purse.
I thought it was perfect for St. Patrick's Day
(with its leprechaun-like adjectives),
so I placed it in a gold frame to add to the decorations.

It was a wonderful, fun-filled family dinner.

Au Revoir,
Michelle
