Remembering Avignon - Blue & Yellow Tablescape

I set my table using some
French Provencal linens in blue and yellow...
and the tablescape instantly reminded me
of visiting Avignon in the South of France.

Back in 2012, my hubby & I traveled
throughout France.
While in Provence, we spent some time in Avignon.
There were quite a few shops selling beautiful textiles,
but I could only purchase a few things
(due to space constraints).

Recently, I purchased these linens at a flea market.
They reminded me of linens I saw while in Avignon.

I really like the scalloped edges on the quilted placemats.
For this tablescape, I cinched the matching napkins
with a metal napkin rings having a grape motif.

For the center of the table,
I used a lot of white flowers -
both hydrangeas and roses.

My youngest daughter is a singer and
she had a performance this evening.
The special event called for a celebratory dinner
with some extra pretty touches!

The center of the table also included some
large candles on rustic yellow candle holders
(from Pottery Barn).
I love dining by candlelight!
Also, I always use unscented candles -
so there isn't a smell competing with the smell of the food.

Each place setting included a
dinner plate and salad plate
from my wedding china.
The pattern is "Royal Lapis" from Wedgewood.
The blue & gold bands on the china tie in with
the blue & yellow on the placemats.
Also, the plates have scalloped edges that echo
the placemats' scalloped edges.
PERFECT!

Each place setting also included
a set of my wedding silver, Royal Danish,
and a mason jar for a beverage.

I have very fond memories of my time in Avignon.
I also have great memories
of the wonderful family dinner we shared to honor
my daughter and all her hard work on the
eve of her final singing show for this school year.

Au Revoir,
Michelle

    1. I appreciate your comment, Christine! Can you believe the whole set of placements+napkins was only $8 at the flea market??? And, they are reversible, with a different pattern on the other side! I really love them.
      Thanks again,
      Michelle
