Outdoor Fall Centerpiece

Today, I wanted to share a fall centerpiece
I made for the table on my back porch.

Early this morning, this was the view from my back porch.
I feel so fortunate to have a porch where I can look out
and see the green golf course.
The view extends straight across
to the Santa Barbara mountains.

Today, I thought it would be nice to sit
outside on the porch
to drink my morning coffee.
The sunlight was so pretty!

While sitting there,
I decided to share my outdoor centerpiece.

It all began with this piece.
I wish I had taken a "before" picture!
Let's just say it wasn't the prettiest thing you've ever seen.

I purchased it at the Ventura Flea Market about 5 years ago.
It was black at one time (I suppose).
When I bought it, it was chipped and rusty.
I got it for a song (especially because it was also wobbly).

I have had grand visions for this piece,
but my follow-through has not been stellar.
It needed a little TLC before I could use it.
Rust-oleum to the rescue!
(This is not a sponsored post.)

I spray painted the piece with heirloom white.
What a change!
Now, I could pay attention to the lovely scrolls and details.

I also did a bit of gentle bending
so it wouldn't wobble anymore.

After fixing the piece, it was time to fill the two tiers.
I started at the bottom and added
two different mosses, some pinecones,
a few faux leaves & berries,
some white baby boos,
and a slightly larger orange pumpkin with a
lovely, long curved stem.

Then, I filled the top section in a similar manner.

 I LOVE the scrolled handle!

The curled feet sit on top of a quilted placemat
which I purchased in Avignon, France.

The quilted placemat and centerpiece
sit on a burlap table runner on my teak table.

Inside my home, I have a bit of orange.
Overall, however, I have a more
neutral color scheme this year.

Outside, we have orange and tangerine trees
that are covered with fruit.
Bringing that pop of the orange to the centerpiece
helps connect it to the outdoors.

A lovely centerpiece for a lovely fall morning
in Santa Barbara.

Au Revoir,
Michelle
